Implementation of the approved suspension of the cet (import duty) on a list of eight (8) renewable energy and energy efficient technologies

The Ministry of Finance and Public Service has advised the Jamaica Customs Agency, in a letter dated December 14, 2023  that the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) has approved the Suspension of the Common External Tariff (Import Duty) on the following eight (8) renewable energy and energy efficient items in the quantities stated:

The Suspension commences on January 01, 2024 and ends on December 31, 2025.

Additional National Code (ANC) EC4 is already in place and should be used to facilitate clearance.

Effective January 01, 2024, Additional National Code (ANC) EC3 should be used to facilitate the GCT exemption on lithium- ion batteries imported for use in solar application which are no longer included on the list.
